Montenegro
The phrase “good things come in small packages” is most definitely an apt description of this beautiful country and in this tiny corner of south-eastern Europe you will discover some of the continent’s most glorious beaches, wilderness and historic towns in an area smaller than Northern Ireland.
In the west, beautiful beaches and the Adriatic await, with small fishing villages dotted along the coast. Further inland, wide plains and high mountains such as Maja Kolata are perfect for anyone seeking an active holiday that can include everything from hiking to rafting.
The National Park of Durmitor offers stunning scenery and walled towns like Kotor where you will find a maze of cobbled streets. Wildlife is abundant in the hills, and hikers might on occasion come across a wolf or bear in the very remote parts of the country.
Hospitality is so important to the Montenegrins where you are ensured of a warm welcome. As a former Yugoslav republic, the cuisine is similar to that of other Adriatic states. Montenegro is one of the most picturesque spots in the Balkans and becoming more and more popular as a holiday destination.

Montenegro enjoys three different climates: The coast has a pleasant Mediterranean climate with a high number of days of sunshine per year. Summers are hot and dry and winters are mild and wet. Temperatures drop slightly as you move inland, where the climate is continental and moderate.
