Discover Halkidiki
Located on mainland Greece, to the South East of Thessaloniki, Halkidiki is made up of three peninsula's; Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos, each surrounded by the beautiful turquoise Aegean Sea and boasting 550kms of dramatic coastline where white sand-bays are interspersed with rocky coves.
Each of Halkidiki peninsula's, affectionately known as ‘fingers’, has a slightly different feel. Kassandra is the most lively of the three and where you’ll find the peninsula’s best bars and restaurants. Sithonia is the most rugged, its coast scattered with fishing villages and pretty little harbours. Athos is the least developed and here you will find Mount Athos home to the unique Orthodox community of monasteries known informally as the Garden of the Virgin Mary.
Featured in many Greek myths, Halkidiki boasts a rich cultural heritage, including the ancient sites of Olynthos and Stagira, the latter being the birthplace of Aristotle. Gastronomy also features prominently and Halkidiki is famous for its plentiful olive groves and produces some of the world’s best olive oil, other local favourites include fine breads and cheeses as well as sweets and pastries made from the excellent locally grown fruits.
For those looking to get out and about, the region also offers an array of activities including walking and cycling routes, jeep safaris, horse riding and rock climbing. No visit to Halkidiki would be complete without a visit to natural healing thermal springs at Agia Paraskevi.

Halkidiki enjoys a traditional Mediterranean climate. Summers are very dry and between May and June temperatures exceed 25 °C with July and August often reaching the mid 30’s. Autumn is a pleasant time to visit as the temperatures are lower than summer with daytime temperatures between September and October averaging 25 °C
