Our Daios Cove Prize Winner, Gemma

Posted in Travel Writing by Luisa Webster on 9th Jul 2024

At Prestbury Travel, we love making dreams come true, and there's nothing more exciting than sharing in the joy of our clients' experiences. Recently, we had the pleasure of organising a trip to the stunning Daios Cove in Crete for Gemma, a social media prize courtesy of our 40th Anniversary celebrations last year. Having just returned from Crete, we asked Gemma to fill us on on her dream trip.

What was your reaction when you found out you won the trip to Daios Cove?

When I received the message to say that I had won, I instantly thought “this can’t be real” and how can someone like me win something like this!! Even when we were checking in at the airport, I still couldn’t quite believe it.

What was your highlight of the trip?

The highlight of the trip was walking into our room at 1am and pulling back the curtains to reveal the swim-up pool all lit up. I couldn’t wait for it to come light so I could see the view of the cove. It really was breathtaking and a trip I will never forget.

How was the dining experience at Daios Cove? Did you have a favourite restaurant or dish?

The dining experience at Daios Cove was out of this world. Although it was a buffet-style restaurant that we ate in, the selection of food was far superior to any other all-inclusive hotel I’ve ever been to. They served things like beef Wellington, Thai fish curry, crusted pork loin, seafood, plenty of fresh fruit, salad and the dessert selection was amazing. You were definitely spoilt for choice.

What did you like most about the resort? Would you recommend it?

The resort itself had so much to offer for couples and families, with the most wonderful private beach in its very own cove, which offered a range of water sports such as paddle boarding, jet skis, snorkelling and an inflatable sofa behind a speed boat. They also offered a free session of scuba diving in the pool. There was a beach bar and restaurant that you could eat at during the day or in the evening. They had artists playing chilled-out music on some evenings which just added to the relaxing vibe of the hotel. The view across the cove was just out of this world, like something you’d see on a postcard. All areas of the hotel were well kept and had so many different spots where you could just sit and relax (rooftop terrace, small fire pit areas, bean bags down on the beach etc) to take in the magnificent view.

Every member of staff at the hotel did everything possible to make your stay enjoyable and nothing was too much trouble. I would absolutely recommend this hotel, and I’ve had so many messages from friends and family, asking about it from the photos I posted whilst I was there.

How was the service from the Prestbury Team?

The service from the Prestbury travel team has been so informative, friendly and professional. They made my trip so enjoyable and no query was too much trouble. I’ve never used an independent travel agent before, but I certainly will from now on as it’s far more personal and so easy to contact someone if you need to. I would just like to say a huge thank you to every person at Prestbury Travel for making this trip possible. I will never forget it and I’m sure my mum won’t either, as it was her first ever holiday abroad and has certainly set the bar high for future adventures.
